Cheers Jess! Wow Peru already! I'm guessing you didn't get there guerrilla style through the Columbian highlands ;-). Been years since a wrote a post but will try do one when I have a particular inspiration - re-reading this one is interesting since Ray's mum was recently ill so all our money going on trips to and from the tertiary care hospital in Belize City and scan etc. She's doing okay now. Having a bumper July at Warasa by our standards - 2 groups of over 20 students for lesson, a family half-day package, two groups of 15 for drumming and dinner and some other smaller group lessons. And two marketing volunteers coming next week :-).

Have fun but safe travels!

I just found this. You wrote your message 2 years ago so this is very belated. But I can answer your question. I was with Jack and his then wife Janet in the dance school in San Salvador in 1972-74. We were all in the Peace Corps together. I visited Belize (it was still BH in those days) on holiday. Jack was so taken by my descriptions that he decided to go there. He never left!

It is interesting to hear an outsider's perspective regarding racism in Belize. I am a born Belizean and I'm used to all these things, yet I don't do it. Please note that via education, these racial slurs are being lessen - I am a prime example. Although I doubt "coolie" will ever disappear. lol
