Ray loves to teach anyone to drum. Currently, most of his students are short-term visitors to Belize. While it is important to spread the word about the unique and fascinating Garifuna culture outside of Belize, it is also vital that local children keep the traditions and skills.
Sadly, fewer and fewer Garifuna people can drum, speak the language and sing the songs. We want to do our bit to fix that. Local families have many priorities however, and paying even nominal sums for a drum lesson comes below grocery bills, school fees, clothes and many other things. So, we are looking for your support.
Just $10USD a week will provide over an hour drumming lesson to 4 local children. So far, we have three students - Shanoy, Brent and Orey. Lessons have already begun...to help then continue longer, please get in touch....more pictures and videos coming soon!
